Fiestas Patronales de Perquin in Perquin
Perquin, a pine-forested mountain town in Morazan near the Honduran border, keeps its fiestas patronales on August 14 and 15 in honor of San Sebastian. The town, historically registered as Nuestra Senora de la Asuncion de Perquin, mixes Lenca roots with the more recent memory of the civil war, giving the novena, procession, and street fair a reflective, communal character.
Every year on August 14 and 15, the mountain town of Perquin in Morazan department turns its attention to San Sebastian, the Roman soldier-martyr whose image has been carried through these streets for generations.
