Carnaval de San Miguel in San Miguel
Carnaval de San Miguel is El Salvador's largest popular festival, held on the last Saturday of November as the culminating event of San Miguel's fiestas patronales, drawing crowds estimated in the hundreds of thousands to over a million for its parade of floats, live orchestras and street party filling the city's main avenues. Since its founding in 1958, it has grown into Central America's biggest single night of public celebration.
For one Saturday night each November, San Miguel becomes the center of Salvadoran public life.
