Fiestas Patronales de Soyapango in Soyapango
Soyapango, El Salvador's most populous municipality, holds its fiestas patronales during the first twelve days of October in honor of the Virgen del Rosario. The historic town name, San Antonio Soyapango, points to an earlier patron, but the currently venerated image is the Virgin of the Rosary, honored with a procession and a commercial and artisan fair.
Soyapango carries the distinction of being El Salvador's most populous municipality, a dense urban district within the San Salvador metropolitan area, and its fiestas patronales, spread across the first twelve days of October, are built to match that scale.
