FECIGE Itinerant South-South Film Festival in Malabo/Bata/itinerant towns
FECIGE, the Festival de Cine Itinerante Sur-Sur de Guinea Ecuatorial, travels between towns across Equatorial Guinea's mainland and island territory, screening free outdoor programmes of African and Ibero-American cinema alongside a national short-film competition for the Ceiba award. Formed in 2012 from the merger of two earlier showcases, it pairs each feature with a live performance and a locally made short film.
FECIGE grew out of two separate festivals that Equatorial Guinea folded into one in 2012: the FCAT Guinea Ecuatorial African film showcase that Casa Africa and the Spanish Cultural Centers of Malabo and Bata had run since 2010, and a parallel local showcase called Cine para la Ciudadania organized by the Asociacion Cinematografica de Guinea Ecuatorial.
