The story

DocPoint Helsinki Documentary Film Festival in Helsinki

DocPoint, first held in 2000, is Finland's only festival dedicated exclusively to documentary film, running each January and February across multiple Helsinki cinemas. Since 2010 it has run a parallel edition in Tallinn, Estonia, making it the only documentary festival organizers describe as taking place simultaneously in two countries.

DocPoint held its first edition in 2000, organized by figures from Finland's documentary film industry who wanted greater recognition and a dedicated platform for nonfiction cinema, with the supporting association formally established the following year in 2001.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

DocPoint's defining feature is its exclusive focus: unlike general film festivals that include documentaries as one sidebar among many genres, DocPoint dedicates its entire program to nonfiction cinema, drawing both Finnish and international titles across Helsinki cinemas each winter

02

The mystery stays covered

Its parallel Tallinn edition, running since 2010, gives the festival a genuinely cross-border structure unusual among film festivals of its scale, letting a shared program serve audiences in two different countries during the same winter window
