World Village Festival Helsinki in Helsinki

World Village Festival began in Helsinki's Kaisaniemi Park in 1995 as Finland's main event for a European anti-racism campaign, becoming fully annual from 2005 onward. Now organized by the development NGO umbrella Fingo, it combines live music with stalls from hundreds of civil society and human rights organizations in a free, daytime, family-oriented outdoor gathering each late May.

The first World Village Festival took place in Helsinki's Kaisaniemi Park on 20 and 21 May 1995, organized as Finland's main national event for a European Council anti-racism campaign and timed to mark the tenth anniversary of the development cooperation service organization Kepa, drawing tens of thousands of visitors to a program built around more than 150 civil society organizations and over 100 performers, including international acts such as Black Uhuru from Jamaica.
