Jakobstad Days in Jakobstad/Pietarsaari
Jakobstad Days, first held in 1976 as a tourism initiative combining song, music, and sport, is the biggest annual event in the coastal Ostrobothnian town of Jakobstad. Held across one week each July, it now draws more than ten thousand visitors to a citywide program of music, dance, markets, and dedicated children's and youth activities.
The first Jakob's Days were celebrated in 1976 as a tourism-promotion initiative combining song, music, and sport, and the event has since grown into the single biggest annual gathering on Jakobstad's civic calendar, a coastal Ostrobothnian town whose own name commemorates Jacob de la Gardie, honored by his widow, Countess Ebba Brahe, when she founded the settlement in 1652.
