Down By The Laituri in Turku
Down By The Laituri, running in Turku since 1988, is Finland's oldest and largest city-center festival, staged each July directly along the Aura River. Past editions have drawn crowds as high as seventy thousand across a multi-day run spanning electronic, rock, and alternative genres, and the festival directly inspired Tampere's own Tammerfest.
Down By The Laituri, commonly shortened to DBTL, has run in Turku since 1988, making it, according to organizers, the largest and oldest festival held in a Finnish city center rather than on a rural festival ground or dedicated arena site.
