The story

Our Festival Tuusula in Tuusula/Jarvenpaa

Our Festival, known as Meidan Festivaali, presents an intimate, unconventional chamber music program on the shores of Lake Tuusula, historically home to a community of Finnish artists including composer Jean Sibelius. Centered on the historic Paloheimo mansion, now a Sibelius Academy concert venue, the festival was named Finland Festivals' Festival of the Year in 2011 and received a State Prize for music in 2013.

Our Festival, known in Finnish as Meidan Festivaali, stages an intimate chamber music program on the historic shores of Lake Tuusula, a lakeside district long associated with a community of Finnish artists who settled there in the early twentieth century, most famously composer Jean Sibelius, whose home Ainola in nearby Jarvenpaa remains a preserved museum today.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

Our Festival's deliberate use of the Lake Tuusula shoreline, a district that drew composer Jean Sibelius and a wider circle of Finnish artists to settle there in the early twentieth century, ties its chamber music programming directly to that historical artistic legacy rather than treating the setting as incidental

02

The mystery stays covered

A decade of formal recognition, Finland Festivals' Festival of the Year in 2011, a State Prize for music in 2013, and a 2021 industry award for best classical music festival, reflects sustained critical regard for the festival's unconventional, intellectually engaged programming rather than one standout edition
