Sedan Medieval Festival in Sedan
Sedan's fortified castle, among Europe's largest, hosts a May weekend of costumed medieval encampments, blacksmithing and weaving demonstrations, and staged sword-fighting tournaments. The centuries-old stone fortress itself, with its towers and courtyards, gives the reenactment a physical setting few other French medieval festivals can match.
Sedan's medieval festival takes place inside and around what is officially recognised as one of Europe's largest fortified castles, a sprawling stone complex built up from the tenth century onward on the Ardennes border with Belgium.
