Further Drachenstich in Furth im Wald

The Further Drachenstich, first documented in 1590 and generally considered Germany's oldest folk play, re-enacts a knight's battle with a dragon, separated from its original Corpus Christi procession context in 1887 and fixed to an August date since. More than 1,000 costumed participants and over 250 horses take part, and the dragon itself, named Tradinno, holds a Guinness World Record as the largest four-legged walking robot ever built.

The first written record of an armoured citizen taking part in a procession in Furth im Wald dates to 1590, making the Further Drachenstich, by most accounts, the oldest folk play still performed in Germany.
