MS Dockville in Hamburg
MS Dockville began in 2007 as a one-day, 5,000-person event on Wilhelmsburg, Europe's largest river island in Hamburg's harbour district, and has grown into a multi-day festival drawing more than 25,000 people. More than 100 bands perform alongside over 120 art, reading and workshop events, with murals and installations scattered across the grounds as an open-air gallery, on a site where campgrounds are limited and motorised vehicles are banned to protect the island terrain.
MS Dockville began in 2007 as a modest one-day gathering of around five thousand people, staged with support from the International Building Exhibition on Wilhelmsburg, Europe's largest river island, in the district south of the Elbe that separates Hamburg's port from its city centre.
