Nuremberg Volksfest in Nuremberg

Nuremberg's Volksfest dates to an 1826 celebration for King Ludwig I's birthday and now runs twice a year, in late March and late August, on fairgrounds beside the Dutzendteich lake. Combined, the two roughly two-week editions draw up to two million visitors with roller coasters, water rides, a large Ferris wheel and a parade of decorated beer carriages, ranking it among Bavaria's largest folk festivals after Munich's Oktoberfest.
