Ga Mashie Homowo in Accra/Ga Mashie

Ga Mashie Homowo is the largest and most concentrated staging of the Ga people's annual harvest festival, held in the historic James Town and Bukom quarters of Accra. The Ga Mantse and Gbese Mantse lead the sprinkling of kpokpoi, a steamed corn dish, through streets lined with drumming crowds, musket fire and dancers, marking the climax of a season built around famine remembered and overcome.

Ga Mashie Homowo is the culminating celebration of the Ga State's harvest calendar, staged in the old quarters of James Town and Bukom where the Ga Mantse and Gbese Mantse lead the ritual sprinkling of kpokpoi.
