This is Athens City Festival fills the whole of May with more than three hundred free public events, fitness classes, guided walks, art exhibitions, open-air cinema and street parties, spread across the city's parks, squares and neighbourhoods rather than its historic centre. Organized by the City of Athens, it deliberately shifts attention from the Acropolis toward the everyday rhythm of residential districts.
This is Athens City Festival turns Tuesday mornings in Eleftherias Park into a fitness class and Kotzia Square into a public skating rink, part of a free, month-long May programme that the municipality built specifically around neighbourhoods rather than the city's ancient landmarks.
