Athens Photo Festival in Athens
Founded in 1987 and among the five oldest photography festivals worldwide, this Athens event fills the Benaki Museum's Pireos Street annex each summer with work from around thirty countries, alongside portfolio reviews, a talent lab, a photobook programme and satellite exhibitions across the city. It ranks among Europe's most visited photography events, drawing well over sixty thousand visitors in recent editions.
Established in 1987 by the Hellenic Centre for Photography, this festival ranks among the five oldest photography festivals anywhere in the world, giving Athens a claim to photographic-festival history that predates most of Europe's now-larger equivalents.
