Patras Carnival in Patras

Patras Carnival has run since 1829 and is Greece's largest carnival, building for roughly five weeks toward a Saturday-to-Sunday parade weekend and the ritual burning of the Carnival King at St. Nicholas Pier. Satirical floats, a citywide hidden-treasure hunt and a dedicated children's parade set it apart from smaller regional carnivals elsewhere in Greece.

Patras has kept its carnival season since 1829, making it one of the oldest continuously staged carnivals in Greece and, by most measures, the country's largest.
