Samos Young Artists Festival in Pythagorion/Samos
An August chamber and contemporary music festival staged nightly in the ancient open-air theatre of Pythagorion, Samos, founded in 2010 by the Schwarz Foundation to pair emerging young musicians with established international artists across cultural and religious lines. A 2018 critics' award named it Greece's best peripheral music festival.
An ancient theatre built for classical drama now hosts contemporary classical, jazz and cross-genre chamber music each August, and that combination of antiquity and living musical experimentation defines the Samos Young Artists Festival since the Schwarz Foundation launched it in 2010.
