Feria de Mixco

Mixco's main feria patronal honors the Virgen del Rosario de Morenos, known locally as the Virgen de Morenos, on the last Sunday of January, a devotion locally dated to 1526 and framed in local coverage as roughly five centuries old. The image's cult extends beyond the fair itself, with replicas carried in rotation through Mixco's neighborhoods year-round, each community staging its own reception with lights, fireworks, food, and music.

Mixco, now a sprawling municipality effectively absorbed into metropolitan Guatemala City, holds its principal feria patronal in honor of the Virgen del Rosario de Morenos, not the Immaculate Conception title sometimes associated with the town in less careful accounts, with the main celebration falling on the last Sunday of January.
