The story

The West Show in L'Eree/St Peters

Running for over a century, The West Show brings Guernsey's three western parishes together each mid-August at L'Eree, a former aerodrome on the west coast, for traditional country show classes in produce, crafts and livestock alongside a funfair, lawnmower racing, trade stalls and headline arena entertainment.

The West Show has run for more than a century, organized by the West United Agricultural and Horticultural Society and drawing together the communities of Guernsey's three western parishes, St Saviour, St Pierre du Bois and Torteval, for a two-day country show each mid-August at L'Eree, a broad open site on the island's west coast that formerly served as an aerodrome.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

The West Show's traditional livestock and horticultural judging classes, cattle, goats, sheep, pigs, fur and feather alongside cakes, vegetables and flowers, give it a genuine agricultural-competition backbone that most of Guernsey's other summer festivals lack, set on the unusually large, flat grounds of a former aerodrome that gives the show room for a funfair, lawnmower racing and large-scale arena attractions in the same space

02

The mystery stays covered

Running for over a century under the same western-parish society also gives it a continuity few of Guernsey's newer festivals can claim
