Amerindian Heritage Art Exhibition in Georgetown
An annual September exhibition at the National Gallery of Art, Castellani House in Georgetown, showcasing paintings, carvings and mixed-media work by Indigenous Guyanese artists as part of Amerindian Heritage Month, distinct from the month's craft and food markets and framed explicitly as fine art rather than saleable handicraft.
Paintings and carvings by Indigenous Guyanese artists fill the National Gallery of Art at Castellani House in Georgetown each September, when the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs partners with the gallery to stage its Amerindian Heritage Art Exhibition.
