Guyana Carnival in Georgetown
Guyana Carnival began in May 2018 as a privately organised, Trinidad-style carnival separate from Mashramani, the country's older 23 February Republic Day festival. Built around a week of ticketed fetes, pool parties and band launches, it culminates in a costumed mas-band road parade through Georgetown, drawing Caribbean, North American and diaspora visitors who travel specifically for the fete season rather than for a national-identity commemoration.
Guyana Carnival launched in May 2018 as a privately organised addition to the country's festival calendar, timed deliberately away from Guyana's older Republic Day festival, Mashramani, which is held every 23 February.
