Linden Town Week in Linden
Linden's annual Town Week marks the 1970 founding of the bauxite-mining town on the Demerara River, when Mackenzie, Wismar, and Christianburg were joined under one municipality. The week runs through late April into May with a lineup of themed nights, sporting fixtures, and community events such as Wismar Day, a Tourism Village, and a Day of Sports, closing with the town's largest gathering of the year.
Linden was proclaimed a town in 1970, pulling together the bauxite-mining communities of Mackenzie, Wismar, and Christianburg on opposite banks of the Demerara River, and every year the town marks that founding with Town Week.
