Lakou Souvenance Festival in Gonaives/Souvenance

Lakou Souvenance, eleven kilometers north of Gonaives, hosts Haiti's largest and most sacred Vodou pilgrimage, with ceremonies documented continuously since 1815, running from the Saturday before Easter through the following Friday and honoring the Dahomey-rooted lwa of Daome in what is considered their purest surviving form in Haiti.

Lakou Souvenance, located about eleven kilometers north of Gonaives, is regarded as the site of Haiti's largest and most sacred Vodou pilgrimage, with ceremonies documented as taking place there continuously since 1815, making it one of the longest continuously observed Vodou ritual traditions in the country.
