The Christmas Urbi et Orbi is the pope's solemn blessing to the city and to the world, delivered from the central loggia of St Peter's Basilica at noon on Christmas Day. Dating to the 13th century, it follows a Christmas message addressing global conflicts and calls for peace, closing the Church's Christmas liturgies with a blessing broadcast to Catholics everywhere.
