Guancasco Intibuca-Yamaranguila in Intibuca/Yamaranguila
A Lenca peace ritual between the neighboring Intibucá department towns of Intibucá and Yamaranguila, where masked dancers, drummers and chirimía players accompany each town's patron saint on a procession to meet the other, renewing a centuries-old pact of brotherhood between these two highland Lenca communities of western Honduras.
Wooden masks carved with exaggerated features, hide drums, and long poles for carrying saint statues move along the road between Yamaranguila and Intibucá when the two Lenca towns hold their Guancasco.
