La Ceiba's patron saint celebration, honoring San Isidro Labrador and running since 1917 as the Feria Isidra, has grown into the Gran Carnaval Internacional de la Amistad, a two-week May program of neighborhood carnavalitos, an equestrian parade, and a major float parade on the third Saturday of May.
La Ceiba's celebration of its patron saint, San Isidro Labrador, began as the Feria Isidra in 1917, and by 1929 had grown into what is now widely described as one of Central America's most important festivals, the Gran Carnaval Internacional de la Amistad.
