The story

Clockenflap in Central Harbourfront

Clockenflap was founded in 2008 by Jay Forster, Mike Hill and Justin Sweeting at Cyberport before moving through the West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade and settling at the Central Harbourfront in 2016. It grew from a single-day, 1,500-person event into Hong Kong's largest annual outdoor music festival.

Clockenflap was founded in 2008 by Jay Forster, Mike Hill and Justin Sweeting, with its first edition held in a concrete public plaza at the Cyberport housing and technology development in front of roughly 1,500 attendees.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

The festival expanded into a three-day format by 2013, when attendance passed 30,000 across seven stages, a Cabaret Tent and an Arts Village, and by 2015 crowds reached around 60,000

02

The mystery stays covered

Its founders set out explicitly to build Hong Kong's independent music, arts and film scene and to put the city on the region's touring circuit, and the festival has retained a film and visual art component alongside its main music stages rather than becoming music-only
