The story

ARC Public Poster Exhibition in Budapest

Founded in 1999 by three advertising professionals to redirect billboard space toward social commentary, this annual public exhibition has run since 2000, now displaying oversized 5-by-2.4-meter posters around a single social theme each year at Bikas Park, free and open 24 hours. School groups are frequently brought to view the exhibition as part of civic-education programming.

Gabor Bakos, Barna Fater, and Peter Geszti founded Arc Ltd in 1999 with an unusual goal for an advertising company: use billboard space for social and opinion messaging rather than commercial advertising, blending the visual language of advertising with fine art.

01

The place changes

Posters are displayed at genuine oversized billboard dimensions, 5

02

The mystery stays covered

38 meters, far larger than any gallery print, arranged as a free, unticketed, round-the-clock outdoor exhibition rather than a conventional gallery show with fixed hours

03

The city starts moving

School groups are regularly brought to view the exhibition as part of civic-education programming, giving the provocative annual social theme a genuine pedagogical role beyond pure public art, one the founders' original advertising background helped shape from the very first edition
