Gyerek Sziget in Budapest

Launched in 2002 by Sziget Zrt as a free-standing event separate from the main Sziget Festival, Gyerek Sziget fills Hajogyari-sziget each June with childrens concerts, puppet theatre, a petting zoo, and play areas, marketed as the country's largest free family festival. Many Budapest parents treat the June date as an unofficial marker of the school year's end.

Sziget Zrt, the production company behind Budapest's much larger August Sziget Festival, launched Gyerek Sziget in 2002 as a genuinely separate, free-standing family festival rather than a children's zone folded into the main summer event.
