Matyo Easter Festival in Mezokovesd
In Mezokovesd's preserved Hadas district, this Easter weekend centers on vodros locsolas, a communal water-dousing tradition specific to Matyo folk culture, organized largely by a grandmothers' club alongside UNESCO-recognized Matyo embroidery demonstrations and dance-house sessions. Many of the organizing grandmothers have taught the same embroidery patterns to three or more generations of family members.
Mezokovesd's Hadas district, a preserved quarter of traditional Matyo folk houses, hosts an Easter weekend built entirely around Matyo culture, famous above all for its elaborate, richly colored floral embroidery, recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2012.
