CineFest Miskolc International Film Festival in Miskolc

Founded in 2004 as a young filmmakers' festival, CineFest Miskolc now runs each September with entirely free screenings of features, shorts, documentaries, and animation, awarding its top honor, the Emeric Pressburger Award, named for the Miskolc-born Hollywood screenwriter. Jury panels typically include internationally recognized directors and critics who travel to Miskolc specifically for the competition.

Launched in 2004 as the Festival of Young Filmmakers, originally limited to directors under thirty-five, CineFest Miskolc has since dropped that age restriction and grown into Hungary's most prominent film festival by many measures, now run by CINE-MIS Nonprofit Ltd across roughly a week each September.
