Kocsonya Festival in Miskolc
Since around the turn of the millennium, Miskolc has held the Kocsonya Festival around the Hungarian meat aspic dish, first documented in the city in 1790 and tied to a local legend about a frog found blinking inside a cooling batch. Run by the More Than a Legend foundation with the city as a partner, the winter event now draws roughly a quarter of a million visitors across five stages.
Miskolc's Kocsonya Festival celebrates kocsonya, the Hungarian meat aspic dish, an event that emerged around the turn of the millennium and has grown into what organizers describe as the country's largest gastronomic festival built around a single dish.
