Hafnarfjordur Viking Festival in Hafnarfjordur
An annual Viking reenactment gathering in Hafnarfjordur's Vidistadatun park, organized by the Rimmugygur association since 2018 and held around June 17 each year. Reenactors camp in canvas tents, stage mock battles with shields and axes, and staff a market of forged ironwork, wool, and leatherwork. Storytelling, archery demonstrations, and live music round out several days built around Iceland's Norse settlement history rather than costume spectacle alone.
Fjorukrain, a Viking-themed restaurant and inn on Hafnarfjordur's waterfront, began staging a market week in 1995 that required importing Viking reenactors from abroad, since Iceland had none of its own at the time.
