List i Ljosi in Seydisfjordur

List i Ljosi, Art in Light, is a free mid-February light-art festival in Seydisfjordur, founded in 2016 by Celia Harrison and Sesselja Jonasardottir. Timed to the sun's return to the fjord after weeks of winter darkness, the town switches off its own lights for two nights so invited artists' installations and projections become the only illumination, distinct in season and focus from the town's summer youth arts festival, LungA.

List i Ljosi, Art in Light, was founded in 2016 by New Zealand-born artist Celia Harrison together with local resident Sesselja Jonasardottir, built around a very specific piece of local geography: Seydisfjordur sits deep in a narrow fjord surrounded by mountains steep enough to block direct sunlight from the town for weeks each winter.
