LungA Art Festival in Seydisfjordur
Founded in 2000 by fifteen-year-old Bjort Sigfinnsdottir and friends in the small eastern town of Seydisfjordur, LungA grew into a week-long youth-focused art festival built around workshops culminating in exhibitions and concerts. It spawned the independent LungA School in 2013. Organizers announced in 2024 that funding pressures had made the festival unsustainable and that its 2024 edition would be the last.
Bjort Sigfinnsdottir was fifteen years old when she and a group of friends in Seydisfjordur started LungA in 2000, motivated by frustration at how little there was for young people to do in their small eastern fjord town.
