Lathmar Holi is Barsana's ritual pre-Holi festival, centered on the Radha Rani Temple, in which women beat men with lathis, wooden sticks, while the men block the blows with leather shields. It reenacts a legend of Krishna teasing Radha in her hometown before being driven off by her friends, with a reciprocal version staged the next day at Nandgaon.
