Gangaur Festival Jaipur in Jaipur
A sixteen-day Chaitra-month festival honoring Gauri and her consort Isar, marked in Jaipur by a City Palace procession from the Zanani Deodhi gate carrying the goddess's image on palanquins and bullock carts. Observed mainly by married and unmarried women for marital wellbeing, it falls in spring shortly after Holi, distinct from the monsoon-season Teej.
On the day after Holi, clay or repainted wooden idols of Gauri, identified with Parvati, and her consort Isar, identified with Shiva, are dressed in new garments inside Jaipur homes and at the City Palace, beginning a Chaitra-month observance that runs for about sixteen days.
