Chhath Puja Patna in Patna
A four-day Hindu festival honoring Surya, the sun god, and Chhathi Maiya, centered on Patna's Ganges ghats. Devotees keep a strict fast, including a nirjala day without water, then stand in the river to offer arghya at sunset and again at the next sunrise. It falls on Shashthi of the lunar month of Kartika, shifting yearly against the Gregorian calendar.
Chhath Puja spans four consecutive days built around a single ritual act: standing waist-deep in the Ganges to offer arghya, water and milk poured toward the sun, first at sunset and then again at the next sunrise.
