Ganga Mahotsav Varanasi in Varanasi

Ganga Mahotsav is a five-day cultural festival organized by Uttar Pradesh Tourism on the ghats of Varanasi, opening on Prabodhini Ekadashi and closing on Kartik Purnima, the night of Dev Deepawali. It features classical music and dance, a country boat race, a daily craft fair, and martial arts displays, functioning as the tourism-driven cultural buildup to Dev Deepawali's lamp-lighting finale.

Five days before Dev Deepawali each year, the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department opens Ganga Mahotsav on the ghats of Varanasi, timed to begin on Prabodhini Ekadashi and run through to Kartik Purnima, the night of Dev Deepawali itself.
