The story

Djakarta Warehouse Project in Jakarta

Djakarta Warehouse Project began in 2008 as Blowfish Warehouse Project, founded by Ismaya Group's Christian Rijanto, Bram Hendrata, and Brian Sutanto, rebranding after an early venue disruption. Now based at JIExpo Kemayoran and widely called Asia's largest EDM festival, it has expanded to three days, drawing peak attendance around ninety thousand, alongside documented security incidents in recent editions.

Ismaya Group founders Christian Rijanto, Bram Hendrata, and Brian Sutanto launched what became Djakarta Warehouse Project in 2008 under the name Blowfish Warehouse Project, a nightclub event at Jakarta's Blowfish club that drew more than five thousand attendees across three arenas in its first edition.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

DWP's scale, commonly cited peak attendance around ninety thousand in 2016, distinguishes it clearly as Asia's largest EDM and dance-music festival, well beyond most of Indonesia's other music events

02

The mystery stays covered

Its origin story, an early venue disruption after a fight forced relocation from the original Blowfish club to Pantai Carnaval and prompted the current branding, is unusually eventful for a festival's founding history

03

The city starts moving

Recent editions have drawn documented security scrutiny, including internal detentions over extortion allegations in 2024 and a major drug-trafficking crackdown around its 2025 Bali edition, details worth knowing before attending
