Karang Asam Festival in Muara Enim

A community-founded festival in Muara Enim held each September since 2022, centered on the Mandi Kupek ke Ayek river ritual and backed by more than a hundred local business stalls, recognized as South Sumatra's only grassroots-organized cultural event of its scale, and now listed on the Ministry of Tourism's national Kharisma Event Nusantara calendar despite its grassroots origins.

Muara Enim's own residents, not a government tourism office, launched this festival in 2022, and it is regularly described as South Sumatra province's only community-initiated cultural event of its kind.
