Solo Batik Carnival in Surakarta
Solo Batik Carnival began on April 13, 2008 along Jalan Slamet Riyadi, organized by the Surakarta Artists Association and Surakarta Batik Artists Association. Participants design, sew, and model their own batik-based costumes, often combined with recycled materials and built over roughly four months, then walk a fixed route from Sriwedari Park to Solo City Hall.
Surakarta's Artists Association and Surakarta Batik Artists Association staged the first Solo Batik Carnival on April 13, 2008, along Jalan Slamet Riyadi, establishing what has become a wearable-art costume parade rather than a trade fair or exhibition.
