Tomohon International Flower Festival in Tomohon
Tomohon International Flower Festival began February 8, 2006 in North Sulawesi's chrysanthemum-growing highlands, running biennially before becoming annual from 2014 and joining Indonesia's national Wonderful Event calendar by 2015. Its centerpiece, the Tournament of Flowers, debuted in 2008 as a float parade decorated entirely in fresh chrysanthemums, judged to international float-parade standards alongside a Flower Queen pageant.
Tomohon, a highland city in North Sulawesi known as a major chrysanthemum-growing center, first held its International Flower Festival on February 8, 2006, to promote local floriculture and Minahasa culture.
