Grebeg Maulud is the climactic procession closing Sekaten week at Yogyakarta's Keraton, held on the twelfth day of the Javanese month of Mulud. Guard regiments carry six gunungan, mountain-shaped rice and vegetable offerings, to Masjid Besar Kauman, the governor's Kepatihan office, and Puro Pakualaman, where crowds scramble to grab pieces believed to bring blessing.
