Isfahan Children's Film Festival in Isfahan
Iran's leading children's and youth film festival, based in Isfahan since splitting off from the Fajr Film Festival in 1985, when it introduced its own jury and the Golden Butterfly award. Running for more than three decades, it has been credited with putting Iranian children's cinema on the international festival map, screening features, shorts, and animation for young audiences.
In 1982, children's cinema in Iran was folded into the newly founded Fajr Film Festival as a subsidiary section; three years later, in 1985, it split into an independent event with its own jury and a signature prize, the Golden Butterfly, awarded in the historic city of Isfahan.
