Fajr Film Festival in Tehran
Iran's premier competitive film festival, held every February in Tehran since 1983 to mark the anniversary of the 1979 revolution. Domestic through its early years, it added an international competitive section in 1997 and now runs parallel strands for Iranian and Asian cinema, first features, and a training track for young filmmakers.
The Fajr International Film Festival held its first edition in Tehran from February 1 to 11, 1983, timed to the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution and named for the Fajr, or Ten Days of Dawn, the state's annual commemoration period.
