Uramanat Pir Shaliar Festival in Uramanat/Hawraman

Twice yearly, on the fortieth day of winter and again on the fortieth day of spring, the Hawraman village of Uraman Takht hosts the roughly 950-year-old Pir Shaliar ceremony, with children going door to door for treats, communal Kurdish dance and shared meals, and a spring stone-breaking ritual called Komsai.

Twice each year, the village of Uraman Takht in the Hawraman region of Iranian Kurdistan hosts a ceremony over 950 years old known as Pir Shaliar, held on the fortieth day of winter and again on the fortieth day of spring, each version running for three consecutive days.
