Basra Book Fair in Basra

The Al-Mada Foundation's International Basra Book Fair brings Arab and international publishers to Basra for roughly ten days of book stalls, panel talks, and readings organized with the Union of Iraqi Writers, with donated volumes later going to Basra University's libraries as a lasting resource for local students.

The Al-Mada Foundation for Media, Culture and Arts built the International Basra Book Fair as a southern counterpart to its long-running Baghdad book fair, aiming to give Iraq's second city the kind of literary gathering the capital and Erbil already had.
