Arbaeen Pilgrimage Karbala in Karbala
Arbaeen falls forty days after Ashura, on the twentieth of Islamic Safar, and draws one of the world's largest annual pilgrimages to Karbala. Millions walk the roughly eighty kilometers from Najaf, sustained by thousands of free volunteer-run mawakib offering food, shelter, and medical care, culminating in mass visitation at the shrines of Hussein and Abbas.
